DriveABLE™ 
An assessment conducted by an occupational therapist and driving evaluator to identify fitness to drive and the medically impaired driver. If there is memory loss, poor judgment, indecisiveness, disorientation or loss of strength, flexibility or balance, it is time to determine if these changes are affecting driving. The individual completes the Cognitive Assessment Tool (DCAT™) in our center and then participates in the DriveABLE™ On Road Evaluation (DORE™)

Functional Abilities/Capacity Evaluation
A comprehensive assessment that quantifies the individual’s total body movements and defines safe limits for functional activity in general or for a specific job. At the HHAC, evaluations are completed by registered health care professionals such as Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

Functional Driving Assessment
An individualized process designed to answer questions about the individual’s ability to work in the area of transportation, conducted by an Occupational Therapist and Driving Trainer/Evaluator in the assessment centre and using vehicles such as transport truck, bus, van, etc. The assessment is to examine issues around the individual’s physical tolerances and aptitudes for vehicle operation and related activities. The individual must already possess a driver’s license and the assessors do not determine eligibility or potential for licensing.

In-Home Assessment
The individual’s function and safety in their own home environment is completed by an Occupational Therapist. Level of physical and cognitive function, disability status, barriers to function, the need for assistive devices, attendant care, homemaking assistance and rehabilitation services are identified.

Job Analysis/Physical Demands Analysis
An assessment of the duties, physical demands and/or cognitive requirements of a particular job. The assessment is completed in the workplace by an Occupational Therapist.

Medical/Multidisciplinary Assessments
The individual is assessed by a single evaluator or a team of multidisciplinary health professionals to answer questions about diagnosis, prognosis, disability status, barriers to recovery, treatment and rehabilitation needs. The HHAC’s roster of assessors includes Orthopedic Specialists, Physiatrists, Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Occupational Health Physicians, Dental Specialists, and registered health professionals such as Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Massage Therapists, and Psychologists.

Neuropsychological Assessment
A comprehensive examination of the individual’s cognitive abilities is completed by a Neuropsychologist for the identification of brain dysfunction associated with head injury, stroke, tumors, metabolic disturbances, or dementia. Disability status, barriers to recovery, treatment needs and prognosis are outlined.

Psychological Assessment
The individual is assessed by a Psychologist to clarify psychological disturbances, psychosocial adjustment issues, current and premorbid functioning, disability status, barriers to recovery, treatment needs, and prognosis.

Psychovocational Assessment
The individual is assessed by a psychologist to examine the individual’s aptitudes, academic achievement, intelligence, vocational interests, personality and emotional functioning for the identification of vocational options and any barriers to employment. 

Situational Assessment
Evaluation of the individual’s physical and cognitive function and emotional and behavioural factors in a controlled work environment. An Occupational Therapist conducts the assessment to examine the individual’s readiness or potential for work in general or for a particular occupation, usually over five consecutive days.

Vocational Exploration
An intense, individualized process conducted by an Occupational Therapist. The individual is guided to the identification of realistic and implementable vocational goals and plans through assessment of factors such as vocational interests and analysis of transferable skills, labour market conditions combined with a vocational exploration process.

Workplace Assessment 
The individual’s function is assessed while they engage in their job to examine physical function, cognition, behaviour, environmental, and work process related factors. Recommendations are made for enhancing/promoting the individual’s ability to work safely and productively.

Work Re-entry Coordination
A registered health professional establishes and cooridnates a cooperative process for the employee’s return to work. The employer, the employee and their representatives participate collaboratively to remove barriers, to reduce lost time and prevent injuries.

Work Trial 
The assessment of the individual’s physical and cognitive abilities and behaviours continues in a community-based work setting. The work trial is managed by an Occupational Therapist who coordinates the assessment with the cooperation of a workplace.
